Paintings that ask you to reconnect with instinct.

Liza’s paintings communicate through a dynamic interplay of colour, shape, composition and scale, creating a visual language inspired by her surroundings. Drawing from urban forms and architectural landscapes, her work distils these elements to convey their subliminal impact, presence, essence and emotion.

Constrained by the limitations of a small studio, Liza employs multiple canvases joined to produce large-scale compositions. Spontaneous brushstrokes are applied to raw canvas panels, which remain in a state of constant flux throughout the creative process. They are flipped, rotated and reconfigured, allowing unexpected yet cohesive compositions to emerge organically.

The contrast between precise, hard-edged lines and expressive, instinctive mark making generates a tension between shapes, as well as an engaging interplay of ‘push and pull’ between positive and negative space.

Each piece resonates differently with its audience, evoking a unique response from every viewer. In a sense, the viewer is invited to complete the painting, bringing their own narrative and emotions into the work.

Liza lives and works in London and her paintings are included in private collections worldwide, including the USA, Japan, Russia, Europe, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, South Africa, China, Peru and the UK.
